A message from Dr. Lynn Dustin
To the Clients of Bay Area Bird and Exotics Hospital:
A year ago, I wrote to say that I had stopped working to comply with the stay-at-home order for workers over 65. At that time, none of us knew the full impact COVID 19 would have on our lives and careers, and I was no exception. I envisioned being back in the office in a few weeks, or a few months at the most.
I have recently come to realize that I will not be returning to my beloved career. I am well past the usual retirement age and it would be too difficult to resume working after this long absence. After 43 years as a veterinarian, it is time for me to spend more time with my own pets and slow the pace of my life a bit.
This is a difficult letter to write because it has been a difficult decision to make. My work was a true calling and I will miss it in countless ways. My clients and patients added a positive energy to my life that I will always cherish. The trust you placed in me has been an enormous privilege.
I will also miss the camaraderie of my dedicated coworkers. I am especially grateful to Dr. Marcucci for keeping my job open indefinitely and giving me all the time I needed to reach this conclusion on my own.
Thank you, everyone, for all the good years!
Sincerely,
Lynn R. Dustin, VMD
